Darling 400km

STORY

Nice smooth easy going qualifying putting us in 6th place on the starting grid, started 17sec behind Rob Wark but caught him within the first 10 km and passed him, continued to chase Atang who we caught at approx. the 30km mark and passed.

We raced closely with Atang and Rob Wark for the following 60km before Atang passed and led into the pits on lap 1, finished lap 1 in 2nd overall, chased for lap 2 before Atang got a puncture right in front of me, passed and led to the finish of lap 2 leading by 2 min on my old Jimco. Lap 3 pulled my finger out and increased my lead from 2 min to 6 min on my old Jimco and 8 min on Atang before cruising in with 40 km to go.

RACE ANALYSIS

Terrain – a bit of everything with 40% consisting of Desert conditions;

Engine – superb, did not miss a beat, engine temp average of 100 degrees & oil temp average of 115 degrees;

Gearbox – superb, average temp of 85 degrees;

Suspension – good but perhaps still to soft upfront;

Tyres – 35’ Good Year MTR were superb, no punctures and no significant wear on the back, front still new;

Navigator – Excellent;

Preparation – need I say more.

Many thanks once again for designing an awesome vehicle which I might add still has more potential as I am still nursing her around.
